Seventy7 Magazine Celebrates Award Season

With a new year upon us, actors from around the globe are now congratulated for their outstanding work in their respective films. Whether they be shows or movies, this time of year brings out some of the best outfits and serves as an appetizer for the fashion weeks to come, both during and after. Many fabulous outfits graced the red carpets, but today, we'll look at 14 of the most memorable from known designers like Prada, Versace, and Valentino. To the lesser-known Usama Ishtay, Monsoori, and Alin Le' Kal, this was a crazy award season for outfits.

Victoria Monét wore a Custom Atelier Versace gown at the Grammys. That classic corsetry is a staple of the brand, and its use on this bronze garment is beautiful. The piping also looks as if it’s been made to mimic the satin skirt of the gown, which shows the attention to detail put into Versace gowns. What makes the outfit so gorgeous is that the color matches the artist’s skin tone almost precisely, giving this nearly sheer/melting look. The singer was named Best New Artist and looked stunning while delivering a heartfelt speech about her time in the music industry. Along with Best New Artists, Monét took home Grammys for Best R&B Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical For Jaguar II.

Miley went all out for this year’s Grammys, making a total of 5 outfit changes throughout the night. Arriving wearing a Maison Margiela dress made entirely of gold Safety pins accompanied by big 70s-inspired hair. The hair was the only constant between the outfits. She then switches into an archrival Bob Mackie Fringe dress while performing her hit, Flowers. The dress’s original appearance was at the Bob Mackie Fall/Winter 2002 ‘To Broadway with Love’ show. Switching into another Mackie look, Cyrus wears a Lace Bustier from the same Fall/winter show.

Quickly moving on to a glimmering Tom Ford halter neck jumpsuit she wore while winning Best Pop Solo Performance. Then, doubling back to the stage to receive her second award of the night, Record of The Year, while wearing a head-to-toe brown Gucci ensemble, sporting a 1947 bamboo handbag and a boa to add just the right amount of extra drama to this sequined cutout dress. All these costume changes, you’d think she knew she was about to win a Grammy that night. It all paid off, though, the perfect way to win your first Grammys.

Nominated best actor for his work in Rustin, Colman Domingo was one of the best-dressed men on the Critics Choice red carpet. All the red carpet events, but a list of his outfits would be boring. Wearing a beautiful Mustard yellow Valentino fall 2023 Haute couture ensemble, along with a golden over coat lined with a lovely shade of purple. This was so visually pleasing to the eye. The look is still great without the coat, but it's definitely a statement piece. Domingo was also accompanied by his Color Purple costars, so the addition of purple to this look could be a nod to his role in the musical. Down to the Christian Louboutin Willam boots and his golden jewelry, this deviation from the somewhat expected black suit often worn by male actors at shows/events like this is a breath of fresh air. Hopefully, more men will take notes.

Summer Walker was nominated for Best R&B Album for ‘Clear 2: Soft Lips EP’ and took to the Grammys donning a My fair lady Strapless gown. The Bridal pieces were making there rounds this award season, Walker is just one of many who were bit by the bridal-bug but she’s one of the most memorable to wear the style. Usama Ishtay made this opulent feather ensemble and gives the singer a dramatic silhouette with the hat and delivers an elegant look with the addition of the train. It’s honestly a campy and fun look, not something you’d usually expect from the artist. The dress's corset was also decorated with sequins to sell that Larger-than-life Aura.

Nominated at the Golden Globes for best supporting actress in a musical, Comedy or Drama TV series, Janelle James for her role as Ava Coleman in Abbott Elementary. This is the second time the show has received this level of acclaim, and Janelle is clearly dressed for the occasion. Styled by KJ Moody, James is wearing a Monsoori Velvet black gown paired with dramatic floor-length green silk sleeves. The form-fitting gown is an ordinary article of clothing, but it adds this level of elegance and high glamour when worn with sleeves. Creating a striking and memorable silhouette while not being "too" over the top. The gown designer, Shaima Al Mansoori, was inspired by the European Renaissance for her fall 2023 collection, where this look originates. The photo from the Golden Globes photobooth resembles a middle age renaissance painting. The use of silk, green, and velvet black shows how much detail and thought went into this couture look.

Winning Best African Music Performance for 'Water', Tyla! Joining the Versace Club, the artist wears a seafoam green off-the-shoulder dress featuring Swarovski crystals in some cutouts, the arm and leg. It is a very subtle look but so breathtaking, embodying a star's essence. She paired her Versace Gown with Rene Caovilla Shoes and jewelry by Maria Tash. The whole look just gave that early 2000s look. Accompanied with a light glam look, this was just head-to-toe perfection.

At first glance, this Prada dress is just a sheer sheet of fabric on top of another white slip dress, but what makes this outfit stand out from the other white gowns seen on the carpet is the moment it caused. Best known for her portrayal of Jules Vaughn in HBO's "Euphoria," Hunter Schafer recently starred in "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" as Tigris. The star took to the Golden Globes red carpet wearing this Spring/summer 2024 translucent dress, with publications calling her "the ghost of Hollywood." This dress felt rather fitting because she was just coming from starring in a Hunger Games film. As it was a windy night in Beverly Hills, the moment the wind hit this dress, the fabric began to move and bevel, causing every photographer to call out her name to face them to get a good shot of the dress on the carpet. Compared to the other looks on this list, this is a rather basic dress, but that should be seen as a good thing if it's effective. Even inside, the dress gave off the impression that she was floating or this ethereal being. Sometimes, less is more, and this is a perfect example of that.

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy for the aforementioned show. Taking to the Emmys red carpet in a custom burgundy Versace gown. Accented with gold and silver jewelry, this beautifully constructed dress featured a skirt that revealed a thigh-high slit to show off the golden heels the actress paired with it. The detailing on the bodice had several uses of corsetry on the sides, back, and front. Along with its use of piping and metal pieces, this is another beautiful, understated look. What more could you want from a Versace design? The future Lois Lane actress really left her mark.

Teasing her country album, Beyonce adorns a cowboy hat and grill while attending the 2024 Grammys. With her now Icy Blonde hair and a Louis Vuitton fall RTW Collection ensemble, Beyonce was getting ready to give us a taste of the new era she’d be entering for this new project. The jacket and matching skirt are embellished with crystals in the now-infamous Checkerboard pattern. The outfit has a Western influence but remains rather chic. The bolo tie drove home the rodeo look.

Back to the extravagant, Italian actress Simona Tabasco is another Emmys nominated star. For her work on "The white Lotus," Tabasco wore a 50/60s inspired floral dress by Marni. The custom hourglass dress was made up of a collage of hand-sewn flowers, giving it this graphic look. It looked like the flowers were cut from magazines and added to the dress. Each flower is sewn on; if you look closely, you can see the barely visible stitches on the white edges. The one-of-a-kind Marni dress must be a cousin to the brand's 2024 Spring Ready to Wear Collection. When asked how she'd sit the dress, Tabasco said she still didn't know. Regardless, this dress reflects her style and was a beautiful interpretation of the 50s/60s silhouette.

The voice, the legend, the star, Fantasia Barrino, shut down the Critics' Choice Awards red carpet. The Color Purple Star wore an Alin Le'kal Couture gown with an Ostrich Feather cape. Accessorized with Jimmy Choo heels and a bag, along with jewelry from Maison spoiled and her wedding ring. The gown and cape are from Alin Le'Kal's Bridal Collection and looked terrific on the singer. The cape made the outfit stand out because of the long train it caused, with the only way photographers could capture it was to get wide shots of the whole look. This was a beautiful red carpet spectacle from the dress color against her skin, the tattoos being shown off, and the incredible train.

Five-time nominated, and now Emmy award-winning actress Niecy Nash-Betts accepted her first-ever Emmy and thanked herself for unwavering belief and trust in herself while wearing a black Greta Constantine mermaid gown. Giving her one of the best hourglass shapes on the carpet. Constantine's use of velvet and satin really elevated this look, and the addition of opera gloves made Nash look stunning; it was like she knew she would win. She won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for her role in "Dahmer – monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story." Accompanied by her wife, who wore a matching satin black suit with a leopard print ESC pattern decorating the outfit, they were undoubtedly one of the best dress couples of the night. A beautiful moment for the star to be able to thank herself, be surrounded by her peers, and share the moment with someone she loves.

Draped in pastels and silk, Charli XCX attended the 2024 Brit Awards in a Strapless Marni gown. With a slick back hairstyle, the singer wears a custom-made resin bust with a shade of green and pink similar to the silk below it. The bust also features the signature flowers the brand has begun to be known for, starting at the neckline and moving down to the hips. keeping jewelry minimal, opting for the dress to be the main focus of her look. The whole ensemble is just very pleasing to the eye; from the train to the patchwork of the silks, it all has this mermaid or rather siren air to it.

The Emmys at the beginning of the year had the pleasure of being graced by the presence of the cast of season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. joined by RuPaul, Michelle Visage, and some of the crew that helped make the show possible. while winning the show's fifth Emmy alongside its first out trans winner, Sasha Colby, the stage was also walked by the first drag goblin. Ex-drag queen Princess Poppy. Wearing a beautiful Iredencent Green gown featuring a train. Poppy accessories with a grass purse, jewels in her ears, and a lovely pearl necklace. All come together with a beautiful brushed-back hairstyle creating one of the best looks on the carpet.
